Frequently Asked Questions

Blow new life into your career and discover the benefits of professional career coaching from blowleaf. Read our FAQs to uncover how our career advice and interview service can help you take the vital next steps in progressing your career.

  • Are you able to give outplacement services and advice to businesses?

Yes! Please get in touch and let us know what your company needs are at: info@blowleaf.co.uk

  • What can I expect from the initial MOT career session?

The career MOT session is conducted over a video call from the comfort of your own home. The session is designed for us to understand you, your aspirations, ambitions and what courses of action you have taken so far, if any, to secure your next role. Over a cuppa (we like to keep formalities to the interview room) we will discuss your current situation, obligations and any relevant industry news and follow this with a bespoke personalised synopsis for you to consider what the best next steps may be. The cost of this session, with no other compulsory commitments, is £47.50 (that’s less than a meal out, or in) paid in advance. Book hereand pay stress-free.

‘What is this ‘personalised synopsis’?’ we hear you ask... Using all the information shared during the initial Career MOT session, your career advisor will suggest what, if any, of our supplementary services may be fruitful moving forwards. Typically, individuals require CV improvement services or an interview technique refresh whilst others may benefit from learning about their innate skills and working preferences via the in depth Profiling Assessment or simply require guidance on how to negotiate the most optimal employment contract. You can commit to as much or as little as you require. We live by the rule that no individual is the same and, as such, our service recommendations are based on you and your individual needs.

  • Are the career advisory sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is at the centre of our business model and is naturally guaranteed. We value your trust and believe it is the most important part of our relationship with our clients. We want you to know that what you tell us in confidence, remains in confidence. First, foremost and above any other consideration. Our lips are sealed.

  • What’s the difference between working with a blowleaf and a Life Coach?

At blowleaf we understand that the path to any career can be paved with all manner of highs and lows, twists and turns and blocks that may knock you entirely off course! Our career advice is focused on your development and effectiveness within the context of your current employment situation and, ultimately, where you want to get to in your career. We can help explore your initial step in the right direction, future steps towards your goal and longer term aspirations.

Life Coaching is focused on your personal effectiveness and development, working typically on areas like increasing your confidence, working to achieve your personal goals in relationships, interpersonally, socially and your overall wellbeing.

Whilst there are obvious crossovers between both disciplines, we concentrate and give expert advice on your career development and journey (whilst cheering you on too!)

  • Where does the coaching take place?

With the uncertainty of COVID19, all our sessions will be over a video call. When restrictions are lifted and it is safe to do so, we will look forward to meeting in person again either in our Central London office or at an equally convenient UK location. We can assure you that the quality of our service is maintained to the highest degree both online and in person.

  • When and what times can career coaching take place?

Life is a constant game of Tetris- we get it. We aim to be as flexible as possible to ensure you can accommodate our career advisory sessions into your schedule. Aside from the initial MOT session, each blowleaf Career Advisor runs their own diary and we will schedule sessions that work for all parties. We hold sessions from the crack of dawn until way past dinner time and look forward to seeing you, whatever the hour!

  • How can blowleaf help me?

All our blowleaf Career Advisors are experts in the world of careers and employment. Our calling is your job fulfilment. We are specialists in career advice to help individuals fulfil their career aspirations and objectives and are here to help create and accompany you on your career journey from start to finish. With our combined expertise, we have assisted many across a multitude of career objectives to walk taller, with refreshed confidence and in a direction that is in keeping with their aspirations, inclinations and unique talents.

  • How can I pay?

All payments are made in advance of a consultation. The initial Career MOT session can be paid online. Press here to book. All subsequent services can also be paid online or over the phone via Square payment services.

Simple, stress-free and money well spent (in our humble opinion).

  • How do you measure a client’s success?

According to your personalised synopsis after the initial MOT session, we tailor your journey according to your needs and requirements. We will check in with you as we complete each stage of your plan to ensure you are getting the career nutrients you require at every step. We see our time together as a success when a client leaves feeling confident and prepared for their employment journey ahead and, ultimately, achieve their ambition in securing the next, most optimal position.

Is there a difference between being career advised digitally and in-person?

We have always advised individuals via video call and often to the benefit of our clients; they’re convenient, easily accessible, low cost, stress free, flexible and require no travel. Whilst our preference pre-COVID was to meet in person (we miss real life interactions as much as you right now), our digital sessions have all the success of our face-to-face ones. You may even find it useful practise for when a video interview comes your way!

  • Why shouldn't I just approach a recruitment agency?

A recruitment agency’s main purpose in life is to fill jobs and get paid for it. They can offer excellent services for their clients but they tend to only cater for candidates who are suited to specific roles, industries and businesses.

Blowleaf are centred on you. At blowleaf, we are here to listen, advise, coach and mentor without prejudice to a specific role, business or industry. We give substantial, impartial and tailored advice to you because our model is about you and no-one else. Our soul  objective (and we really do believe it in our souls) is to help you stand tall with an increased sense of confidence and a self awareness of the innate skills, talent and experience you have to offer when pursuing your next career goal.

  • Should I continue to apply to roles through recruitment agencies?

Absolutely yes. Blowleaf are not a recruitment agency, we can’t find you that dream job. However we can steer you in the right direction and prepare you so that you’re in the best shape possible for when career opportunities come your way. That’s when a good recruitment agency can assist. If you work with the right agencies- there are many great consultants across all disciplines and geographies- opportunities will present themselves and we will of course advise and sensor check that the agencies have your best interests at heart.

  • How many career advice sessions will I need?

It’s completely up to you. Following an initial Career MOT session we can evaluate where you are on your career journey and advise on how we might help you in reaching your goals. We really do believe that no individual is the same and, as such, we don’t offer a package of sessions, set at a fixed rate, that run over a long (and arduous) time period. Our model is tailored to you, an à-la-carte menu offering services that everyone may require at different points on their career path. It’s flexible, should your circumstances change (and we all know how out of the blue changes can be!), with the option to add or subtract different sessions depending on your needs.

  • How often should I have a career coaching session?

Guess what we’re going to say here?...it’s all up to you! Depending on where you are on your career path; if you have imminent interviews lined up that you require technical advice on (hurray!), or perhaps run through a mock interview with us first, you may require a few sessions in quick succession. Alternatively, if you are tentatively dipping your toes back into the employment market and want to take things slowly, we will walk the journey with you at a pace that suits. At whatever stage, we have the flexibility and nuance to fit your blowleaf sessions around your schedule.

  • Why would I need career advice?

For the same reason you’re here on our page right now; you’re curious. Perhaps you feel you’re not fulfilling your employment potential or maybe you’re looking to progress or completely change your line of work? Whatever that ‘niggle’ is that has brought you to us, career advice with blowleaf can help you better understand and maximise your working style, accelerate your career path, maximise your potential, heighten your focus, strategically explore your employment options, develop confidence, communication, leadership and interpersonal skills and a whole plethora of other attributes we are passionate at working on. Our objective at blowleaf is to plant that little seed of curiosity, cultivate it through our nurturing process and watch you flourish into your new-found career confidence.
