OUR STORY



Our company name was chosen after much discussion and not a small amount of wine! The connotation is based on a leaf outgrowing or being blown off its branch, falling loose in the air and then being lifted in the right direction to a new home or career destination. We love helping people ‘turn over a new leaf’ in their job hunt. 


Blowleaf’s co founders wanted to share their decades worth of international recruitment experience with people who actually need support, not just the small numbers of individuals who form the basis of recruiters' profit. Having conducted ten of thousands of interviews and reviewed endless CVs for roles, (ranging from entry level to CEO positions and even a candidate for astronaut training), the founders initially produced a practical career coaching toolkit to share. 


They knew the majority of job seekers had talent and could excel in their current role but faced several key obstacles in securing their next position. Despite skills, experience and often thousands of pounds worth of education, they lacked the defining elements around approach, communication and self marketability to land the position they strived for. This might be a total lack of interview experience, a bland CV or perhaps an irrelevant LinkedIn profile. 


Sometimes the issue was not simply on a 'practical' skills level but something more nuanced and fundamental. Maybe a feeling of low self esteem, an all consuming pre-interview anxiety or simply a lack of focus on a long term goal. Whatever the root cause, many superbly talented individuals were missing out on what could transpire to be life changing career moves, all because of something which was generally addressable and preventable.

 

This was especially true for those at the start of their careers and for individuals who lacked access to extensive professional networks. So, blowleaf was conceived. A way to aggregate world class expertise across a range of disciplines to ensure job seekers had the best possible chance to secure their dream role and a fulfilling career. 

 

Our combination of practical skills, mental resilience and wellbeing coaching was designed to ensure a holistic approach that could maximise the potential of an individual, particularly in a highly competitive job market.
