Alan Lock is an experienced speaker and coach in the fields of resilience, goal-setting and achievement through adversity.  A former nuclear engineering officer in the Royal Navy, lost most of his useful sight at the age of 24 due to a rare genetic condition.  Despite finding himself registered blind at an early age,  he was determined to rebuild his life in a new direction and to use this adversity as a springboard to achieve his ambitions.

He carved out a new career in business, working in a number of roles within investment banking and telecoms, before starting his own business.  In parallel, Alan progressed his passion for sports and physical endeavours, setting two world records – one for rowing across the Atlantic Ocean and the other for skiing across Antarctica to the South Pole.  Alan was also accepted at the prestigious Haas School of Business at UC Berkeley, California, where he became the first visually impaired student to obtain an MBA there.
